Exit Strategies can provide a professional valuation of your business for a variety of purposes:
- Selling
- Buying
- Partner buy-in or buy-out
- Financing
- Divorce
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Bankruptcy
- Estate Planning
- Litigation
We offer 4 types of appraisals for different purposes:
1. Calculation of Value:
This value oriented report is geared toward sellers and buyers of most any small business. A Calculation of Value is mainly used to ‘estimate’ a market value of a business where all supporting documentation or adherence to USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) is not required. Sellers use it to estimate and substantiate an asking price; buyers use it to evaluate the asking price of a business or to substantiate their offer.
Only the numbers of the business are considered; outside variables which make up the ‘story’ of the business are not.
Best Suited For:
- Estimating a ‘ball-park’ sales price
- Analyzing an asking price of a business prior to submitting an offer
2. Valuation & Analysis:
This cost effective report is geared toward sellers and buyers of businesses who need a more accurate picture of the fair market value of their company, and why. Equally important are identifying the Leading Indicators of Value, otherwise known as ‘Value Drivers’. These variables intimately determine the current and future value of the business and will drastically affect the perception of your business to potential buyers.
This report is very educational and addresses all of the financial aspects of the business as well as the 15 most common Value Drivers found in most companies.
Best Suited For:
- Business owners who are interested in selling their business in the near future, and are looking to maximize the sales price at the point of sale.
- Analyzing an asking price of a sizeable business prior to submitting a LOI or Offer to Purchase; when the variables outside the numbers are key to the value.
3. Limited Business Appraisal:
A complete appraisal by applying the most widely accepted standards and methodologies of business valuation. We evaluate your business by utilizing all 3 valuation approaches: Market, Income and Asset. We then use only the most applicable and accurate information to best determine value.
Best suited for:
- Buy / Sell opportunities
- Purchase price analysis
- Buy Ins / Investments
- Divorce
- Partnership or corporation dissolution
- Transfers within family
- Mergers & Acquisitions
4. Certified Business Appraisal
Complete, fully documented appraisal compliant with USPAP, IBA (Institute of Business Appraisers) and IRS standards, primarily geared toward litigation and taxation purposes. These reports contain information and content well beyond the needs or requirements of most business owners. (They are primarily written for submission into court proceedings and are assembled mainly for the attorneys and judges involved.)
Best suited for:
- Divorce (litigation expected)
- Gift taxes
- Partnership / Shareholder disputes
- Economic Loss Suits
- Estate Planning and Taxation
